London Spirit took on the Trent Rockets at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, in the 20th encounter of the 2024 Men’s Hundred on Wednesday, August 7.

The decision to bat first paid instant dividends for the Trent Rockets as Tom Banton scored a quickfire 25-ball 36 at the top of the order. Banton’s innings was laced with four boundaries and one six, scoring his runs at a strike rate of 144.

Batting at No. 3, Alex Hales top scored for the Rockets with a brilliant 42-ball 68 combined with Joe Root's sizable contribution (32 off 23) down the order to help the Rockets post a massive total of 166/4 in the first 100 deliveries of the game. Richard Gleeson picked two wickets for the Spirit.

Chasing 167, London Spirit batters Keaton Jennings (31 off 18), Matt Critchley (37 off 30), and Andre Russell (23 off 15) kept their side in the hunt for the majority of the game. The likes of Rashid Khan (4/24), Luke Wood (2/35), and Imad Wasim (2/26), proved to be a bit too hot to handle for the Spirit batters as they were bundled out for 144 in 97 deliveries, with the Rockets winning the game by 22 runs.

James Vince continues to top the highest run-getters chart with a total of 258 runs in five innings. Batting at an average of 86 and a strike rate of 154.49, Vince has also managed to score three 50+ scores this season, with a highest individual innings of 90*.

Rockets batter Tom Banton after his early game exploits against the Spirit is second on the list with 170 runs in five matches. Nicholas Pooran and Ben Duckett have both managed to cross the 150+ run mark this campaign with respective totals of 157 and 156. They occupy the third and fourth spots, respectively.

Alex Hales (145), Sam Curran (141), and Matthew Hurst (130) have had fruitful campaigns, and they are in the fifth, sixth, and seventh places, respectively. The likes of Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, and Jonny Bairstow round off the leaderboard, occupying the eighth, ninth, and tenth places with tallies of 113, 111, and 106 runs.

Aussie leg-break bowler Adam Zampa continues his purple patch in the edition of the 2024 Men’s Hundred with 12 wickets to his name. Zampa has the best bowling figure of 3/11 this season with a miserly economy of 6.78.

Sam Curran is just one wicket shy of equaling Zampa's wicket tally, and he is in second place on the wickets chart. Chris Jordan (10 wickets) and Tymal Mills (10 wickets) have scalped an equal number of wickets in five matches, and they see themselves in the third and fourth positions, respectively.

Imad Wasim, Razid Khan, and Tim Southee have all snared eight wickets each so far this campaign and are fifth, sixth, and seventh on the list. Haris Rauf and Liam Dawson are in the lower half of the list with seven wickets each in the eighth and ninth places, while Craig Overton is firmly cemented in the 10th spot with a total of six wickets in the four games played.
