Birmingham Phoenix, on Saturday, July 27, opened their account in The Hundred Men's 2024. They defeated London Spirit by three wickets at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. After batting first, the Spirit scored 127 for the loss of seven wickets.

Liam Dawson scored 36 runs, but it was Andre Russell’s unbeaten knock of 37 off 20 balls that guided the Spirit to a respectable score. Sean Abbott picked up four wickets for 14 runs. Tim Southee accounted for two wickets.

The Phoenix chased down the target with a ball left in their innings. Dan Mousley scored 39 off 38 balls. Jacob Bethell made 43 runs off 27 balls with four fours and a six. Daniel Worrall, Olly Stone, and Dawson got two wickets apiece.

Liam Dawson is the top run-scorer in the tournament. In two games, he has scored 81 runs at an average of 81 and a strike rate of 152.83 with a top score of 45 not out to his name. Tom Banton is second on the list with 66 runs at a strike rate of 173.68. Jacob Bethell and James Vince are third and fourth on the list, respectively.

Andre Russell has shown his power-hitting skills, scoring 50 runs at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 185.18 with a top score of 37 not out.

Sean Abbott picked up four wickets against the Spirit and went to the top of the list of most wickets in The Hundred Men's 2024. His teammate Tim Southee has also been brilliant, having racked up four wickets at an economy rate of 9.40.

Adam Zampa of the Oval Invincibles has taken three wickets and will be looking to reclaim his top spot on the list. Chris Green, David Willey, and Craig Overton have also been impressive.
