Cameron Green stole the show with his batting exploits in Mumbai Indians' (MI) IPL 2023 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, May 21.

Mumbai won the toss and elected to field first in the afternoon encounter. The Hyderabad side posted an imposing 201-run target, making it difficult for the hosts. However, the MI batters stepped up under pressure, delivering impressive performances in the must-win game.

Green shone with the bat in the run chase, slamming an awe-inspiring century. The right-handed batter remained unbeaten on 100 in just 47 deliveries. It is worth mentioning that it was the fastest ton of the ongoing season.

He was one of the key architects in MI's comprehensive eight-wicket win as the side chased down the total in just 18 overs.

A number of fans took to social media, lauding Green for his wonderful knock. Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter:

Notably, Green was the most expensive player signed by Mumbai at the IPL 2023 mini-auction. The franchise shelled out a whopping ₹17.50 crore to acquire the talented youngster's services.

He repaid the team management's faith, keeping the team's playoff hopes alive by delivering a match-winning knock in MI's final league match.

"Having his leadership at the other end really helped" - Cameron Green on his partnership with Rohit Sharma

MI skipper Rohit Sharma hit a fine half-century against SRH, mustering 56 runs in 37 balls. He stitched together a stunning 128-run partnership for the second wicket which swung the pendulum in Mumbai's favor.

Speaking of the stand, Green mentioned that having a leader like Sharma at the other end helped him significantly. He also lauded Mumbai's support staff for their contribution.

Here's what he said in the post-match presentation while receiving the Player of the Match award:

"It was a great partnership with Rohit. He's so experienced in IPL. Having his leadership at the other end really helped. The whole MI set-up has been awesome, getting really well looked after.
"The intent at the top, it helps when you have guys like Ishan and Rohit in front of you and SKY after you. We've got Polly (Pollard) as well to help me. That's a pretty good set-up. When we had about 20 to get, I said to SKY to finish it. Then we had a couple of runs left, we just trickled over the line."

With eight wins from 14 games, Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently placed fourth in the points table. However, their qualification depends on the result of the final league match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT).

The five-time champions will straightaway advance to the playoffs if RCB suffer a loss to GT.
