“Soo happy for you mate” - David Warner praises Kavem Hodge, who scored his maiden century against England in the 2nd Test

Australian cricketer David Warner was all praise for West Indian batter Kavem Hodge, who scored a brilliant century against England on Day 2 of the second test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Friday, July 19.

Hodge came to bat when the West Indies were 84-3. The right-handed batter was dropped on 16 by Joe Root, and he made the most of the lifeline he got. Hodge reached his century with a boundary at mid-off in 143 balls. The West Indian dressing room applauded his efforts as Hodge also jumped in the air with delight.

David Warner shared an Instagram story in appreciation of the West Indian batter. He wrote:

“Well done bro, one of the nicest guys and best of all without the doubt one of the hardest workers I’ve seen. Soo happy for you mate.”

After a disappointing loss in the first game, Kavem Hodge and Alick Athanaze led the fight back for the West Indies in the second game. Before departing, the right-handed batter played a brilliant knock, scoring 120 off 171 balls, hitting 19 boundaries.

After losing the first Test by an innings and 114 runs, the West Indies batting lineup looked more promising than the first game, with openers Kraigg Braithwaite (48) and Mikyle Louis (21) stitching a 53-run opening partnership.

The West Indies then lost two wickets in quick succession. After that, it was Kavem Hodge and Alick Athanaze’s show. While the right-handed player scored a century, Athanaze played a brilliant hand of 82 runs off 99 balls before getting out to Ben Stokes.

At stumps on Day 2, the West Indies were 351/5, with Jason Holder (23*) and Joshua Da Silva (32*) on the crease. Kraigg Braithwaite's side is only trailing by 65 runs with five wickets in hand. The West Indies will be hoping for a good outing on Day 3 of the Test to make a match for themselves.
