The Shpageeza Cricket League 2024 season continued on Wednesday, August 14, with a double-header at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium. In the first match of the day, Boost Defenders and Band-e-Amir Dragons were involved in a thrilling 179-run deadlock after 40 overs of play.
Dragons’ opener Riaz Hassan unfurled the innings of the match with a well-paced 54 while his teammate Aftab Alam picked up three wickets with the ball earlier in the game.
In the ensuing Super Over, Boost Defenders chased down Dragons’ 12 runs, with Najibullah Zadran playing the starring role through his three-ball 11*-run cameo.
In match number six of the season, Mis Ainak Knights bowlers Zia-ur-Rehman (2/14) and Wahidullah Zadran (2/14) restricted Speen Ghar Tigers for just 105 in 19.2 overs. In response, Mis Ainak Knights number three Wafiullah Tarakhil blasted a 38-ball 77* to take his team home with seven wickets and 45 balls to spare.
Shpageeza Cricket League 2024 Most Runs List
Sediqullah Atal scored 33 on the day to move to 142 seasonal runs from just three innings. Leading the run-scoring charts of the 2024 Shpageeza Cricket League, he is followed by Wafiullah Tarakhil (96 runs), Zubaid Akbari (91 runs), Ibrahim Zadran (84 runs), and Riaz Hassan (79 runs) to constitute as five of the most successful batters of the season so far.
Mohammad Akram has made 78 runs from two innings to be ranked sixth on the top 10 batting table. Ikram Alikhil and Hashmatullah Shahidi take the subsequent two slots for scoring 75 and 72 runs, respectively. Gulbadin Naib (70 runs) and Samiullah Shinwari (66 runs) round up the top 10 batting charts.
Shpageeza Cricket League 2024 Most Wickets List
Amir Hamza has taken six wickets so far to remain on top of the wicket-taking leaderboard of the Shpageeza Cricket League 2024 season. His Band-e-Amir Dragons teammates AM Ghazanfar and Aftab Alam have taken five wickets each to be respectively positioned second and fourth among season’s most successful bowlers. Noor Ahmed’s five-wicket tally, meanwhile, places him at number three on the list.
Zia-ur-Rehman, Wahidullah Zadran and Nangeyalia Kharote respectively take the fifth, sixth and seventh positions in that order for picking four wickets each. Fareed Ahmad (three wickets), Zahir Khan (three wickets) and Bilal Sami (two wickets) occupy the final three positions on the bowling table.
