SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma's sister Komal Sharma was spotted in the stands for most of the team's matches in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The side had a memorable season, finishing as runner-up after losing to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

Abhishek mentioned that Komal became Hyderabad's lucky charm, and even his teammates started asking him if his sister would be present for the matches. He also joked about Komal's biggest concern while attending the matches was picking the right outfit.

Speaking on the YouTube channel Second innings with Manjot Kalra, Abhishek said:

"Whenever Komal came for the matches, picking an outfit was her biggest concern. I used to tell her to wear something related to the team. The way she supported us this time, the whole team saw it and she became our lucky charm. People in Hyderabad started recognizing her and she enjoyed a lot.
"This was the first time that she had come to the matches, and the team reached the final. So, I think the luck factor was there. The teammates would ask me if she was coming or not for the matches."

"I don't think our bond will ever change" - Abhishek Sharma on his friendship with Shubman Gill

During the podcast, Abhishek Sharma also spoke about his bond with Team India's opening batter Shubman Gill. He stated that the two were roommates while playing for Punjab in their younger days.

He suggested that Gill hasn't changed with success and the two continue to share a wonderful friendship. Abhishek said:

"Now he's become quite busy, but whenever we meet, we talk about childhood days. We were roommates in our childhood, and we talk about those things. He is still the same. I don't think there has been even a one per cent change in him. His nature is such that he only opens up with the people he is close to. I don't think our bond will ever change."

It is worth mentioning that Abhishek Sharma made his India debut in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Shubman Gill was the captain of the Men in Blue side for the rubber. Abhishek scored a stunning century in the second fixture.

However, he wasn't picked in the squad for the upcoming three-match affair against Sri Lanka, starting July 27.
