Aldridge, Thomas shine as Somerset defeat Lancashire by eight wickets

The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton, hosted the 33rd fixture of the 2024 Royal London One Day Cup between Lancashire and Somerset.

Upon winning the toss, Somerset elected to field first, a decision that proved to be fruitful as Kasey Aldridge (6/33) ran through the Lancashire batting line-up.

Even after Aldridge’s bowling exploits, contributions from George Bell (58 off 81) and Chris Green (65 off 54) helped Lancashire post a first innings total of 218 in 49.1 overs.

Somerset opener George Thomas (106* off 142) and James Rew (60 off 63) made this chase look easy, as they chased down their required target of 219 runs in just 40.5 overs, handing Somerset an eighth wicket win with 55 balls to spare.
