Three matches of the Royal London One Day Cup 2024 were scheduled for Thursday, August 8.

In Group B, the first game between Glamorgan and Warwickshire was abandoned midway through the first innings. The following game saw Leicestershire outclassing Yorkshire by eight wickets (DLS Method). In the third game, Lancashire lost to Middlesex by five wickets (DLS Method).

No movement was seen in the Group A points table after Middlesex’s victory.

Somerset, Hampshire, Worcestershire, and Derbyshire remain in the top four with eight points each. Meanwhile, Middlesex retained their fifth position with seven points after their victory over Lancashire.

Durham and Kent hold the sixth and seventh spots, respectively, with two wins in five games. Northamptonshire are ranked eighth with just one win in six games while Lancashires continue to hold the wooden spoon with six losses.

Glamorgan and Warwickshire are currently the table toppers in Group B with 11 points each. Meanwhile, Leicestershire jumped from sixth to third position after a comfortable win against Yorkshire.

Nottinghamshire, Gloucestershire, and Yorkshire moved to the next three spots, respectively, with six points each. On the other hand, Essex and Surrey hold the seventh and eighth spots with two points each while Sussex remain at the bottom, having lost six games in a row.


Leicestershire and Middlesex secure victories via DLS Method in rain-affected matches

The first game between Glamorgan and Warwickshire saw just 18 overs bowled in the first innings. Sam Northeast of Glamorgan smashed an unbeaten 39-ball 68-run knock with nine fours and two sixes. Thomas Bevan and Billy Root also added 23 and 21 runs, respectively.

In the second game, Yorkshire batted first and set a 237-run target. The middle-order batters Matthew Revis (55*) and Dom Bess (60) scored half-centuries while Will Luxton added 25 runs. Ian Holland, Alex Green, and Tom Scriven chipped in two wickets each for Leicestershire.

In reply, Leicestershire chased the revised target in 19.4 overs thanks to captain Lewis Hill’s unbeaten 54-ball 71-run knock and Holland’s 42 off 25. Ajinkya Rahane also contributed 28 runs, including three fours.

In the third game, Lancashire had imposed a target of 233 runs in 48 overs. Rocky Flintoff top-scored with 88, followed by Keshana Fonseka's 42. Henry Brookes chipped in four wickets for Middlesex while Ethan Bamber and Luke Hollman took two each.

In reply, with Joe Cracknell’s outstanding 98 and Sam Robson’s unbeaten 87, Middlesex achieved the target in 46.4 overs. Jack Morley picked up a three-wicket haul for Lancashire.
