Royal London One Day Cup 2024 kicks off with thrilling wins and stellar performances

Derbyshire chased down the target of 236 runs in 48.4 overs in the first match against Northamptonshire. Zak Chappell was the best performer in the match both with bat and ball. He scored 94 runs off 87 deliveries and took four wickets for 39 runs in 10 overs.

Worcestershire posted the highest total of the day in the second match against Middlesex. They made 371 runs for the loss of three wickets in 48 overs before the match got interrupted due to rain. Ed Pollock scored 180 runs off 138 deliveries, while Gareth Roderick made 115 runs off 101 deliveries. Middlesex were bundled out for 188 runs and lost the match by 183 runs. Tommy Sturgess and Harry Darley took three wickets each for Worcestershire.

Durham defeated Lancashire in the third match by 57 runs after posting a total of 344 runs for the loss of four wickets on the board. Lancashire were bundled out for 287 runs in 45.1 overs. The match got cut short due to rain and Nottinghamshire got a target of 105 runs in 14 overs. They scored 89 runs for the loss of six wickets and lost the match by 15 runs.

The fifth match between Essex and Warwickshire was a high-scoring one as well. Nick Browne and Charlie Allison led Essex to a total of 324 runs for the loss of seven wickets with their half-centuries. Oliver Hannon-Dalby was the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets for 69 runs in 10 overs. The target of 325 runs was nothing in front of Ed Barnard’s unbeaten knock of 173 runs off 140 deliveries. Warwickshire won the match by seven wickets in 47.4 overs.
