The Royal London One Day Cup 2024 season continued on Wednesday, July 31 with a set of three Group A games and another three Group B fixtures.

Derbyshire thumped Lancashire by nine wickets at Derby’s County Ground in the first Group A match of the day. Patrick Brown hogged the limelight with the ball for Derbyshire by picking up figures of 5/37.

In Chester-le-Street, Somerset pummelled Durham by 133 runs after conjuring 241/9 upfront off the back of Lewis Goldsworthy’s 93 and Jack Leach’s six-fer. Meanwhile, Kent defeated Hampshire by four wickets, chasing down their 170-run target in 40.3 overs courtesy of an unbeaten half-century from Harry Finch.

In the Group B segment, Leicestershire chased down Essex’s 290-run with three wickets remaining in the 48th over. It came courtesy of a run-a-ball 120 from opener Sol Budinger.

In Wales, Glamorgan mowed down Nottinghamshire’s 274-run total with eight wickets and four-and-a-half overs to spare. Opener Edward Byrom and Colin Ingram plundered majestic unbeaten centuries after Andy Gorvin picked up a sizzling five-fer.

In the final Group B match of the day, Yorkshire (261 all out) held off Sussex (212 all out) in York to secure a 49-run win. Captain Shan Masood’s gritty 63 and the collective brilliance of the bowlers helped them get the win.

Nottinghamshire’s Haseeb Hameed cracked 89 against Glamorgan to extend his Royal London One Day Cup 2024 tally to 222 runs. Finding himself at the top of the run-scoring list of the season, he is followed by Sol Budinger with 213 runs. Andrew Umeed (198 runs), Ed Barnard (184 runs), and Ed Pollock (182 runs) occupy the next three slots.

Mark Stoneman’s 178-run collection places him at sixth. Meanwhile, Josh Bohannon (159 runs) and Eddie Byron (156 runs) take the seventh and eighth positions respectively. Ben Brown (154 runs) and Keaton Jennings (151 runs) occupy the final two slots on the top 10 batting table.

Andy Gorvin picked up five wickets against Nottinghamshire on July 31 to become the first bowler to take 10 scalps this season. Beyers Swanepoel, Ed Barnard, Henry Crocombe, Jack Leach, Dan Douthwaite, and Dominic Goodman have all taken eight wickets each. They occupy the subsequent six slots on the wicket-taking charts in that order.

Ben Coad, Brett Hutton and Eddie Jack take the final three positions on the top 10 list with seven wickets each in their season’s profile.
