Derbyshire outclassed Middlesex in their Group A Royal London One Day Cup encounter at the County Ground Derby on Saturday, July 27.

Batting first, Middlesex openers Joe Cracknell (56 off 74) and Sam Robson (32 off 28) gave their team a much-needed headstart. Soon after the opening duo's batting contribution, they lost wickets in quick succession, resulting in a mini-batting order collapse.

However, Martin Anderson (46 off 66) and Luke Hollman (38 off 43) made decent contributions down the order to ensure that Middlesex put up a fighting score of 266 in 49.4 overs. Anderson and Hollman shared eight boundaries between them.

The Derbyshire bowling card was a splendid display of team effort, with Daryn Dupavillon (3/47) leading the charge while his teammates Sam Conners (2/44), Harry Moore (2/39) and Samit Patel (2/49) gave him able support.

Chasing a target of 267, Derbyshire’s batting was a complete contrast from that of Middlesex, with openers Harry Came (113* off 137) and Luis Reece (88 off 89) ensuring that their team won the game in an emphatic fashion, with nine wickets and seven overs to spare.
