Team India's keeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared his best wishes for Afghanistani batter Ibrahim Zadran as the latter underwent ankle surgery in England. The 22-year-old injured his ankle during practice ahead of the team's one-off Test match against New Zealand earlier this month.

The top-order batter was also ruled out of Afghanistan's recently concluded three-match ODI series against South Africa in the UAE.

Taking to the microblogging platform X, Zadran shared a post on Tuesday, September 24, confirming that he has undergone ankle surgery.

He wrote:

"As some of you may know, I injured my ankle recently, and today I underwent surgery to fix it. Alhamdulillah, the operation was successful, and I’m now focused on my recovery. Dr James was exceptional, and I am forever grateful for his services."

Rishabh Pant commented on the aforementioned post, wishing Ibrahim Zadran a speedy recovery. He wrote:

"Recovery well"

Zadran further added that he wants to return to cricketing action as soon as possible. Thanking fans for their love and support, he wrote:

"There’s nothing I want more than to return to the field, represent my beloved country, and deliver performances that make you all proud. Your love and support mean everything to me, and it’s what keeps me motivated through every challenge. I’ll be back stronger, in sha Allah."

Rishabh Pant would know very well about the challenges that a player deals with while being on the sidelines due to an injury. The southpaw sustained multiple injuries in a horrific car crash in December 2022, resulting in a lengthy hiatus.

He made a fantastic return to international cricket earlier this year at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Pant was India's third-highest run-getter in their title-winning campaign, chalking up 171 runs across eight innings.

Rishabh Pant is back with a bang in Test cricket

The recently concluded Test series opener between India and Bangladesh in Chennai marked Rishabh Pant's return to the format after a gap of almost 20 months.

The southpaw was back with a bang, notching up his sixth Test century. With the ton, he equalled MS Dhoni's record of the most number of Test hundreds by an Indian wicketkeeper.

Pant dazzled the viewers with a 109-run knock in India's second innings. The Men in Blue completed a comprehensive 280-run victory to go 1-0 up in the two-match series. The second Test will be played in Kanpur from Friday, September 27.
