Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav praised his Mumbai teammates Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian for their outstanding performances on Day 1 of the 2024 Duleep Trophy clash between India A and India D on Thursday, September 12. The match is taking place at Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.

After being asked to bat first, India A faced a tough situation, losing half their side for just 93 runs in 25 overs. Mulani and Kotian scored half-centuries to stabilize the innings for India A. Mulani remained unbeaten on 88 off 174 at stumps, while Kotian contributed 53 off 80 balls.

The pair put together a crucial 91-run partnership off 162 balls for the seventh wicket. Their rescue effort was highlighted by their state teammate and Indian T20I captain, who took to Instagram Stories to commend the duo.

Suryakumar wrote:

“A living legend has said हम जहा खड़े होते है लाइन वही से शुरू होती है| Ye dono bhi jab khade hote hain toh runs ki barish hoti hai. Real crisis men. Lage raho doston.”

Meanwhile, Suryakumar is missing the action due to a finger injury.


India A bounces back after losing early wickets in their clash against India D

After choosing to bowl first, Vidhwath Kaverappa struck early for India D by dismissing India A captain Mayank Agarwal for 7. He soon added Pratham Singh to his tally, removing him for the same score.

Riyan Parag, batting at No. 4, made an aggressive start but was dismissed for 37 off 29 balls by Arshdeep Singh. Tilak Varma struggled, managing only 10 runs from 33 balls, while Shashwat Rawat scored 15. India A found themselves in trouble at 93/5.

Kumar Kushagra contributed 28 runs, but Shams Mulani steadied the innings with an unbeaten 88 from 174 balls, hitting eight boundaries and three sixes. Tanush Kotian added a crucial 53 off 80 balls.

At stumps on Day 1, India A was positioned at 288/8, with Mulani and Khaleel Ahmed (15*) at the crease. Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Vidhwath Kaverappa took two wickets each for India D.
