Former Indian opener and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir has revealed three of his favorite moments from the IPL 2024 season. Gambhir had a successful return to Kolkata as the Knight Riders clinched their third IPL title.

However, apart from his own team's performances, Gambhir shed light on three other moments that he felt stood out from the season. He was impressed with the way SunRisers Hyderabad openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head formed a destructive opening partnership.

He was also excited by the flair of young speedster Mayank Yadav from the Lucknow Super Giants. Gambhir capped off his favorite moments by mentioning Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) stunning comeback that saw the latter winning their final six games in a row to make it to the playoffs.

Speaking exclusively on Sportskeeda's SK Match ki Baat, here's what Gautam Gambhir said when asked about his favorite moments:

"Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma's opening partnership, Mayank Yadav's spell & RCB's comeback of six consecutive wins."

Gambhir's top three moments with context to KKR were Phil Salt & Sunil Narine's partnership, Ramandeep Singh's underrated contributions as a finisher and on the field, and the rise of Indian pacers Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora.

Gautam Gambhir on his relation with Virat Kohli

While Gautam Gambhir shared his favorite moments, one of the more talked-about moments of IPL 2024 was when he hugged Virat Kohli during a strategic timeout in a game between RCB and KKR. The duo have had some heated exchanges on the field in the past which have often given rise to a debate about their camaraderie.

However, Gambhir claimed that his bonding with Kohli is not for everyone to know. He stated:

"The perception is far away from the reality. My relation with Virat Kohli is something this country doesn't need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relation is not to give masala to public."

Gambhir also praised Kohli for the six-hitting ability that the latter showed in the IPL 2024 season. Kohli hit 38 sixes this season and Gambhir felt that it was a testament to the star batter adapting to the demands of the modern T20 game.
