The Pondicherry Premier League 2024 season kicked off on Monday, August 5 with a match between Karaikal Knights and Mahe Megalo Strikers at the Cricket Association Pondicherry Siechem Ground. Later in the day at the same venue, Villianur Mohit Kings crossed paths with Ossudu Accord Warriors.
Karaikal Knights batted first and charted 140/7 courtesy of Ankit Sharma’s 31 and Marimuthu Vikneshwaran’s 12-ball cameo during the slog overs. For the Mahe Megalo Strikers, each of their six utilized bowlers picked up a wicket, with Sagar Udeshi holding the lowest economy rate by conceding just 18 runs off his four overs.
In response, Mahe Megalo Strikers consumed just 15.3 overs to chase down their 141-run target at the expense of five wickets. Ramamoorthy Ragavan at number four blasted a 17-ball 40 to counter Paras Ratnaparkhe’s three-wicket rebellion.
In the second match of the day, Villianur Mohit Kings bowlers enveloped Ossudu Accord Warriors' entire line-up for just 131 in 19 overs. Indrajeet Kumar wreaked the most damage to the Warriors’ batting prospects by picking up figures of 5/29. In the run-chase, Mohit Kale’s unbeaten half-century emboldened the Villianur Mohit Kings to mow down their task with seven wickets and eight balls to spare.

Mohit Kale emerged as the lone half-centurion on the opening day of the Pondicherry Premier League 2024 season. Smacking 51 runs against the Ossudu Accord Warriors, the Villianur Mohit Kings batter is followed by Ritesh Gudge (41 runs), Ragavan Ramamoorthy (40 runs), Bhanu Anand (38 runs) and Ankit Sharma (31 runs) as the season’s five highest run-getters so far.
P Akash and Sidak Gurvinder Singh take the subsequent two slots with 26 and 25 runs respectively, while Sivamurugan M and Ajay Rohera are ranked eighth and ninth for tallying 24 runs each. Vishnu K is positioned at number 10 on the batting list with 23 runs to his name.

Paras Ratnaparkhe also claimed three wickets in the opening match of the day to find himself second on the top 10 bowling list. Sabhay Chadha finished with figures of 2/8 to finish the opening day of action as the third most successful bowler.
