Former Indian captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly didn't hold back as he slammed the trolls on Twitter and accused them of 'twisting' his post about Shubman Gill.

Gill smashed an incredible 104* to knock the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) out of the IPL 2023 playoff race. Earlier, Virat Kohli had also scored a century for RCB, but that proved to be in vain as the Gujarat Titans (GT) were just too good in the chase.

Ganguly took to Twitter to hail the standards of the IPL where two hundreds were scored in the same game. He wrote:

"What talent this country produces .. shubman gill .. wow .. two stunning knocks in two halves .. IPL.. .. what standards in the tournament @bcci"

Many fans were unhappy with the tweet as they claimed that Ganguly indirectly trolled Kohli. The two former Indian captains have had a bit of history with the controversy involving Kohli stepping down from captaincy when Ganguly was the BCCI President.

However, Ganguly added another tweet to the aforementioned one and slammed the trolls for manipulating his earlier tweet and taking a different meaning out of it. He tweeted:

"Just a quick reminder .. hope those of you twisting this tweet ,understand English .. if don’t please get someone responsible to explain .."

Shubman Gill's hundred eclipsed Virat Kohli's ton

Virat Kohli, with back-to-back hundreds, gave RCB an incredible chance to seal a playoff berth against GT. However, the target of 198 was chased down by the visitors, courtesy of an absolute chasing masterclass from Shubman Gill.

RCB arguably were 15-20 runs short on that pitch and had Kohli received some help from the other end, the hosts could have scored in excess of 210 or even 220.

However, Indian fans will be delighted that the star batter is in excellent form ahead of the World Test Championship Final on June 7.
