When a question related to the ODI World Cup was asked on popular Indian game show 'KBC: Kaun Banega Crorepati', the three contestants ended up using a couple of lifelines.

The question was for ₹80,000 as the show's host Amitabh Bachchan asked three members of a family on a 'Parivaar [family] special' episode to name the two teams who played in the 2019 World Cup Final and the opening game of the 2023 World Cup.

The question read:

"Which two teams, the finalists of the 2019 ODI World Cup, played the opening match of the 2023 ODI World Cup?"

As per the format of the game, the contestants got four options:

"Option A - England, Australia; Option B - England, New Zealand; Option C - England, West Indies; Option D - New Zealand, Australia."

The three contestants first used the 'Video Call a Friend' lifeline and asked 'Anna Kaka' to answer the question. He did not seem to be a cricket fan, as he had no idea about the correct answer.

The contestants guessed 'England and Australia' as the answer for the 2019 ODI World Cup Final

After the 'Video Call a Friend' lifeline did not help them, the contestants decided to use the 'Double Dip' lifeline, which granted them two guesses. They first guessed Option A - England and Australia. However, it proved to be a wrong guess. Next, they guessed Option B - England and New Zealand, which was the correct answer.

England and New Zealand played one of the most dramatic matches in cricket history in the 2019 World Cup Final. Cricket fans around the world still discuss how England won a World Cup based on boundary count and the miraculous boundary off Ben Stokes' bat while he was running. Still, it seems like the contestants had no idea about that game.
