A new video angle has emerged about Suryakumar Yadav's stunning catch on the ropes to dismiss David Miller in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. In the clip, it can be seen that Suryakumar's foot does not touch the rope as he juggles the ball and completes a superb catch to send Miller on his way for 21 off 17 balls.
India batted first in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa and put up 176-7 on the board in their 20 overs. In the chase, the Proteas were looking good to chase down the total. However, India fought back brilliantly to restrict the opposition to 169-8.
On the first ball of the last over, Suryakumar took a brilliant catch on the ropes to dismiss Miller, juggling the ball and ensuring he completed the take as per the rules. However, some controversy emerged a day after the final as a user shared a video and claimed that the third umpire perhaps passed a judgment on the catch a bit too early.
There has been a huge debate on the catch over the last couple of days. However, in the latest clip that has emerged, it can be seen that Suryakumar is some distance away from the ropes when the ball is on his hand and then shows excellent presence of mind to complete the catch.

Team India batter Suryakumar has opened up on the controversy surrounding his catch to dismiss Miller in the last over of the 2024 T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29.
Speaking to the Indian Express, he asserted that he knew he hadn't touched the boundary rope while taking the catch. The 33-year-old commented:
"When I pushed the ball and took the catch, I knew I hadn’t touched the rope. The only thing I was cautious about was that when I pushed the ball back inside, my feet don’t touch the rope. I knew it was a fair catch. In hindsight, anything could have happened. If the ball had gone for six, the equation would have been 5 balls, 10 runs. We might have still won, but the margin would have been closer."
Suryakumar was among the heroes of India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. He scored 199 runs in eight innings at an average of 28.42 and a strike rate of 135.37, which included two half centuries.
