Virender Sehwag recently stated that he thoroughly enjoyed Rohit Sharma's blistering knock in India's Super 8 match of the 2024 T20 World Cup against Australia on Monday, June 24. The Men in Blue skipper missed out on a well-deserved century, scoring 92 runs off just 41 balls.

Sehwag mentioned that he expected that Sharma would depart after a quickfire cameo in the powerplay. But the senior batter continued his onslaught even when the field restrictions were lifted to put the Men in Blue in the driver's seat.

Speaking to Cricubzz after India's 24-run win, here's what Sehwag said about Rohit Sharma's batting exploits:

"I have never seen better entertainment than this in this World Cup. I was expecting that he would be at the crease for just the first six overs. But he batted even after the powerplay, and look what he did. He made our hearts happy, what more do you want?"

Sehwag also expressed his desire to see the Indian players win the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy for head coach Rahul Dravid. He added:

"We played the 2011 World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar. So, this T20 World Cup can be for Rahul Dravid. At least as a coach he gets to win the World Cup and get the badge of being a World Cup winner, which he didn't get as a player."

India are currently unbeaten in the 2024 T20 World Cup. They will now be up against England in the semi-finals in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.

"Whole country's heartbeat got faster when he was at the crease" - Virender Sehwag on Travis Head

Australian opener Travis Head was the lone warrior for his side in their unsuccessful attempt at chasing India's 206-run target. He scored 76 runs off 43 deliveries, with the help of nine boundaries and four sixes.

Virender Sehwag suggested that every Indian fan was nervous when Head was batting, considering how the southpaw took the game away from Rohit Sharma and company in the 2023 ODI World Cup final and World Test Championship final.

Praising Head for his fighting knock, Sehwag said:

"It was an amazing innings. It was not just me, but the whole country's heartbeat got faster when he was at the crease. One thing of his knock was the simple fashion in which he batted, whether it was in the powerplay or post that. He was easily hitting fours and sixes and was cruising. He didn't get enough support from Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, and others."

Australia finished at 181/7 after 20 overs to lose by 24 runs. Arshdeep Singh claimed three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav bagged two scalps for the Men in Blue.
