Kudzai Chigora’s fifer stuns UAE Women

After losing the toss, UAE Women were tasked to bat first. Captain Esha Rohit looked in good touch scoring 34 runs in 37 balls with four fours and one six. On the other hand, her opening partner and keeper-batter Theertha Satish scored some quick runs with 30 off 18 with six fours.

However, middle-order and lower middle-order batters failed to create any impact as all the remaining batters settled for single-digit scores. As a result, UAE Women collapsed from 42/0 in 5.3 overs to 93/10 in 17 overs.

Zimbabwe's medium pacer Kudzai Chigora was the star bowler in the first innings, scalping five wickets in four overs, conceding only seven runs with a maiden. Josephine Nkomo and Lindo Mabhera picked up a wicket apiece while Beloved Biza shined a three-fer.

The chase was pretty slow for Zimbabwe Women as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At one stage, they were staring at a collapse with 4/3 in 1.3 overs.

However, Beloved Biza put up a good all-round show, scoring 18 runs in 23 balls with one-four. When things turned in UAE's favor, Josephine Nkomo came up with a match-winning knock of 30* in 26 balls with one four and a six.

Nkomo received good support from Tawananyasha Marumani, who scored 13* runs in 10 balls with two fours. Ultimately, Zimbabwe Women reached the target in 19.2 overs with three wickets in hand. Heena Hotchandani and Vaishnave Mahesh picked up two wickets apiece but in vain.
