UAE beat Namibia on Monday by 15 runs in match four of the ongoing Namibia Women’s Tri-Series 2024 at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in the capital city of Windhoek.

Aided by a strong opening partnership between Esa Rohit and Theertha Satish, UAE posted a solid total of 141 in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing a mammoth target, Namibia only muster 126.

As a result of Monday’s result, UAE solidified their position atop the table with two wins out of three matches and a net run rate of 1.096. Meanwhile, Namibia remain stationed at the bottle of the standings with one win in three matches and a dismal NRR of -1.066.

UAE show off batting prowess in win over Namibia despite Jurriene Diergaardt’s four-wicket haul

After winning the toss, hosts Namibia opted to field, hoping that their batters would chase down the target put down by their table-topping opponents. However, UAE started with a bang, with their opening pair of captain Esha Rohit and Theertha Satish scoring a mammoth 73 in the first six overs.

Satish was particularly aggressive, with the young batter scoring a quickfire 45 off 21 to set off a perfect starting point for the UAE. They looked set to run riot, but Wilka Mwatile took the two crucial wickets of Rohit (42 off 40) and Rinitha Rajith to put the brakes on the batting team.

Jurriene Arrasta Diergaardt then came in to turn in a performance to remember . After running out Heena Hotchandani, she took four wickets in quick succession to limit UAE to 141 - a respectable but below-par total after their fiery start.

In response, Namibia set out to bat, with captain Sune Wittmann and Yasmeen Khan starting off well. Wittman scored a couple of boundaries in the first over but was dismissed for 17 (12) in the fourth over.

The rest of the batters failed to turn up until a partnership between Wilka Mwatile and Edelle Van Zyl. However, their dismissals proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Namibia's chase, and, despite Mezerly Gorases' effort, they came up short by 15 runs.
