Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar found himself at the center of controversy following the Women's T20 World Cup game between India and New Zealand on Friday, October 4. The cricketer-turned-commentator said he is not quite interested in North Indian players. The reaction came as one of his fellow commentators was discussing a Punjab player.
The reaction came during the 11th over of India's run chase against the White Ferns.

Sanjay Manjrekar recently lauded Rohit Sharma for his captaincy in the second Test against Bangladesh. The 59-year-old pointed out how his fearless approach helped India win the game by seven wickets despite rain washing away more than two days of the game. Manjrekar told ESPNcricinfo:
"This is the legacy that Rohit Sharma will leave behind as captain. This is how he thinks. A strong team, which is one of the top two sides in the world, they also showed the champion's approach, realising so much time has been lost.
