The Dindoshi Sessions Court in Mumbai has issued a summons for the second time to Prithvi Shaw regarding a plea filed by social media influencer Sapna Gill. Her plea challenges the orders of a magistrate in connection with her complaint against the cricketer for allegedly molesting her at a pub in 2023.

Gill sought an FIR against Shaw and action against the police for failing to register a case on her original complaint from the magistrate court. However, in an order on April 3, it instead ordered a police probe into the case and rejected the second plea.

So, the Dindoshi Sessions Court first issued a summons to Shaw on April 30 but neither he nor his legal team turned up for the hearing. Ali Kaashif Khan, Gill’s lawyer, now submitted another application asking permission to serve a second summons at Shaw’s new address.

Judge DG Dhoble of the court permitted the summons for Shaw's appearance on October 1.

Gill was arrested in February 2023 in a case concerning an attack on Shaw. After getting bail, she approached the police, then the magistrate court, and now the Dindoshi Sessions Court.

The court also issued a "last chance" to the investigators to file a reply to Gill's plea, which Khan argued they seemed "uninterested" in doing.

Prithvi Shaw is currently playing in England

Since the incident, Shaw's career has only gone downhill. Before that, he had scored a few runs for India and was considered on the fringes of the team.

Now, he is nowhere near the international side and even struggled to get consistent game time for his IPL team, Delhi Capitals, in 2024. In the off-season, he moved to England to play for Northamptonshire in the domestic ODI Cup, where, in seven matches so far, he has scored 326 runs at an average of 46.57.
