San Francisco Unicorns won the 13th match of the Major League Cricket 2024 by 23 runs after posting 165 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Liam Plunkett took three wickets for 26 runs in four overs for the Unicorns and won the Player of the Match award.

Washington Freedom are still in first place, having won three out of four games. They have a net run rate (NRR) of +1.051. Texas Super Kings are still in second position and have two wins out of five matches. They have an NRR of +1.093.

San Francisco Unicorns have moved to third place from fourth and have won two out of four games. They have an NRR of +0.044. MI New York have slipped to fourth place from third and have won one out of four matches. They have an NRR of +0.579.

Los Angeles Knight Riders are still in fifth position and have a net run rate of -0.842. They have won one out of five matches. Seattle Orcas are still in sixth position and have won one out of four games. They have an NRR of -1.056.


Seattle Orcas stumble in run chase as San Francisco Unicorns secure 23-run win

Seattle Orcas won the toss and elected to bowl against San Francisco Unicorns. The Unicorns lost their first wicket for 20 runs in the third over. Finn Allen and Matthew Short then stitched together a 75-run partnership for the second wicket.

Allen was dismissed in the ninth over for 34 runs off 18 deliveries. Short made 56 runs off 32 deliveries and was dismissed in the 11th over. Sanjay Krishnamurthi finished the innings for the Unicorns with a 30-run knock off 21 deliveries.

The Unicorns posted 165 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Cameron Gannon was the pick of the bowlers for the Orcas, taking three wickets for 26 runs in four overs.

In reply, Ryan Rickelton and Shehan Jayasuriya added 76 runs for the first wicket for the Orcas. Rickelton made 29 runs off 21 deliveries, while Jayasuriya smashed 54 runs off 37 deliveries.

No batter apart from the two openers managed to score more than 20 runs as the Orcas could reach only 142 runs for the loss of six wickets and lost the match by 23 runs.
