MLC 2024 Points Table: Updated Standings after MI New York vs San Francisco Unicorns, Match 16

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, San Francisco Unicorns and MI New York squared off in the 16th match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. San Francisco Unicorns defeated MI New York by three runs and moved from third to second position with a net run rate of 0.081. They are the first team to qualify after Washington.

Washington Freedom continue leading the Major League Cricket 2024 Points Table with four wins in five games while one ended without a result.

On the other hand, Texas Super Kings dropped from second to third, having won two games while two ended with no result. They have the second-best NRR of +1.093 among the six teams.

Los Angeles Knight Riders retained their fourth spot with two wins and three losses. Similarly, MI New York also remain fifth despite their previous loss against the Unicorns.

Seattle Orcas currently hold the wooden spoon in the leaderboard, having lost four out of five games.

Corey Anderson’s fifty and Matthew Short’s three-wicket haul propelled San Francisco to playoffs

San Francisco Unicorns won the toss and elected to bat first. They suffered a terrible collapse, losing four batters inside the powerplay. Later, Sherfane Rutherford (14) and Hassan Khan (44 off 35) brought the side to a commanding position

Corey Anderson backed them with an excellent 37-ball 59-run unbeaten knock, featuring four fours and two sixes. Cummins also added 13 runs off 12 balls, leading to a modest 148-run total for seven.

Nosthush Kenjige and Trent Boult chipped in with two wickets each while Romario Shepherd and Rashid Khan picked up one apiece.

In reply, Dewald Brevis scored a 36-ball 56-run knock, comprising eight boundaries, to give MI New York a perfect start. Nicholas Pooran also assisted him with a decent 26-run innings. However, wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

Despite Rashid Khan's 14 off 12 and Heath Richards' quick-fire 13-ball 24-run knock, MI fell short by three runs.

Matthew Short was the pick of the Unicorns' bowlers, taking three wickets while Brody Couch secured two, and Haris Rauf and Hassan Khan took one each.
