Texas Super Kings faced the Seattle Orcas in the 21st match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 on Tuesday, July 23, at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. The Orcas won the toss and elected to bowl.

The Super Kings didn’t have a great start as they lost three wickets in the powerplay. Calvin Savage remained unbeaten on 45 runs off 27 deliveries and helped the team post a total of 177 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Ayan Desai and Keemo Paul took two wickets each for the Orcas.

The Orcas lost their first wicket on the very first delivery. Quinton de Kock and Shehan Jayasuriya added 52 runs for the second wicket. The Orcas lost their next three wickets for just 15 runs which pushed them on the backfoot.

Keemo Paul was the only batter apart from de Kock and Jayasuriya to go past the 20-run mark. The Orcas finished with 140 runs for the loss of nine wickets and lost the match by 37 runs. Ottneil Baartman was the most successful bowler for the Super Kings and took three wickets for 20 runs in four overs. Savage won the Player of the Match award for his batting performance.

Faf du Plessis is still the leading run-scorer and has scored 303 runs in six matches at an average of 50.50. Travis Head is in second position and has made 250 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 173.61.

Steven Smith is in third place and has amassed 247 runs in seven innings at an average of 61.75. Ryan Rickelton is in fourth position and has 225 runs to his name in five matches at a strike rate of 149. Finn Allen is in fifth place and has made 186 in six games at an average of 31.
