San Francisco Unicorns overwhelmed Texas Super Kings in a high-scoring Challenger of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 on Friday, July 26, in Dallas.

Batting first, San Francisco Unicorns opener Finn Allen shared a 79-run stand with Jake Fraser-McGurk (18 off 14 balls) and another 70 runs with number four Josh Inglis (37 off 25 balls). Allen himself went on to smack an imposing 101 from 53 balls to register his third T20 hundred and first outside the T20I arena. Hasan Khan at number six added 27 unbeaten from 15 deliveries at the death to take San Francisco Unicorns to 200/6 from 20 overs.

From the six wickets to fall in the high-scoring innings, Texas Super Kings’ Afghanistan import Noor Ahmad seized three at the expense of just 27 runs. Marcus Stoinis and Ottneil Baartman also picked up a wicket each, though they were expensive. Mohammad Mohsin cleaned up a rampaging Finn Allen in the 14th over.

Chasing 201, the Texas Super Kings could gather 190/4 from 20 overs to fall 10 runs short of a spot in the final. Captain Faf du Plessis punched out 45 off 22 while his opening partner Devon Conway (62* off 38 balls) and number six Joshua Tromp (56* off 36 balls) smacked unbeaten half-centuries.

Following a swift 55-run opening stand, bowlers Carmi le Roux (1/39) and Hasan Khan (1/25) tiled the tide back in Unicorns' favor. Juanoy Drysdale also dismissed dangermen Aaron Hardie and Marcus Stoinis in succession to plummet the TSK further.
