Washington Freedom walloped Seattle Orcas in match number eight of the 2024 Major League Cricket season at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday, July 11. Being invited to bat first, captain Heinrich Klaasen led Seattle Orcas from the front by shaping 51 runs from 30 balls after they crashed to 44/3 in less than eight overs.
For the Washington Freedom, pacers Saurabh Netravalkar (3/18) and Lockie Ferguson (4/26) bundled out the Orcas for just 124 in 19.4 overs, with Marco Jansen and Ian Holland also chipping in with a wicket each.
Later in the run chase, it took Washington Freedom 18.2 overs to overhaul their 125-run target with half their side still intact in the game. After Rachin Ravindra scored a handy 16-ball 26 at the top, unbeaten Lahiru Milantha and Obus Pienaar defied a charged-up Nandre Burger (2/27) with dazzling 30s to steer Washington Freedom home to their second win of the season.
MLC 2024 Most Runs List
Texas Super Kings openers Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway continue to lead the MLC 2024 run-scoring charts with 148 and 124 runs, respectively. Seattle Orcas’ Ryan Rickelton, who scored just four against the Washington Freedom on July 11, went past Nicholas Pooran’s 106-run tally to be placed at No. 3 on the top 10 list.
Jason Roy (97 runs), Matthew Short (91 runs), and Unmukt Chand (86 runs) slipped to number five, six, and seven, respectively; while Steve Smith’s 12-run knock extended his collection to 84 runs as he finds himself at the eighth spot.
Quinton de Kock, who scored 24 off 19 balls, is ranked ninth to lead 10th-placed Fabian Allen (73 runs) by seven runs.
MLC 2024 Most Wickets List
Washington Freedom fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar (eight wickets) climbed to the top of the bowling charts through his latest match-winning three-fer against the Seattle Orcas. His teammate Lockie Ferguson also surged to number three with five wickets after picking up figures of 4/26 in the same match. Spencer Johnson, with six wickets, is clubbed between the two Washington Freedom pacers at number two.
With four wickets each to their names, Mohammad Mohsin, Justin Dill, Zia-ul-Haq, Ali Khan, and Cameron Gannon take up the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth spots, respectively.
MI New York teammates Trent Boult and Rashid Khan round up the top 10 list with six wickets between them.
