MLC 2024: Most Runs and Most Wickets after MI New York vs San Francisco Unicorns (Updated) ft. Corey Anderson and Matthew Short

MI New York faced San Francisco Unicorns in the 16th match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Friday, July 19. The Unicorns won the toss and elected to bat.

They amassed just 26 runs in the powerplay for the loss of four wickets. The Unicorns lost their fifth wicket in the seventh over for 33 runs. The turning point of their innings was Hassan Khan and Corey Anderson's 87-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Hassan scored 44 runs off 35 deliveries, while Anderson remained unbeaten on 59 runs off 37 balls. The two helped the Unicorns post 148 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Nosthush Kenjige and Trent Boult took two wickets each for MI New York.

In reply, MI New York lost their first wicket for just two runs before Dewald Brevis and Nicholas Pooran added 77 runs for the second wicket. However, things slipped out of their hands when Brevis was dismissed in the 10th over.

MI lost their next four wickets for just 29 runs. They finished at 145 runs for the loss of seven wickets and fell short of the target by a mere margin of three runs. Matthew Short was the pick of the bowlers for the Unicorns, taking three wickets for 27 runs in four overs. Anderson won the Player of the Match award for his match-defining batting performance.
