MLC 2024: Andre Russell gets himself out hit wicket

West Indies v New Zealand - ICC Men
Andre Russell was out hit-wicket on Friday.

In the second game of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 on Friday, Andre Russell was dismissed in hilarious fashion, as the batter chopped his bat onto the stumps while looking to up the ante.

In the game between Los Angeles Knight Riders and Texas Super Kings, Russell walked out to bat in a dicey situation, as LAKR had lost five wickets for 95 and were staring down the barrel. The big man from Jamaica walked out and started off strong, hitting a six off the second bal and a boundary a couple of deliveries later.

Russell looked to continue the onslaught, but his stay came to an unceremonious end when the 36-year-old chopped his willow back onto his own stumps. Gerald Coetzee, who was bowling the over, was in splits when the same happened.

After Russell's dismissal, LAKR added 44 for the seventh wicket. A flourish in the end from Unmukt Chand and a cameo from Corne Dry ensured that LAKR finished on 162-7 in the MLC game.

Texas Super Kings started their chase with a bang, as Devon Conway hit the straps from ball one, taking his team to 41-1 after the powerplay. Unfortunately for the Kiwi, he had no support from the other end, as wickets kept falling.

Ali Khan brought about a collapse in the TSK innings as the pacer picked up 4 wickets, including the big scalp of Devin Conway for 51. He was aided well by his partner in crime, Spencer Johnson, who bowled a miserly spell, conceding 18 runs and picking up two wickets in four overs.

Calvin Savage (29*) tried to hold up one end and brought the equation down to 21 off the last over. He tried his best but couldn't get his side over the line as Ali Khan bowled an excellent last over, helping the Knight Riders win by 12 runs.

Brief Scores: Los Angles Knight Riders 162-7 (20 overs, Unmukt Chand: 68 (45), Zia Ul Haq: 3-16 (3 overs)) beat Texas Super Kings 150-8 (20 overs, Devon Conway: 53 (39), Ali Khan: 4/33 (4 overs)) by 12 runs
