Beau Webster lights up Max60 Caribbean 2024

In the first match of the day, the Caribbean Giants amassed 101/8 from 10 overs largely owing to Cameron Hemp’s 10-ball 24 and Ashley Nurse’s nine-ball 16. For the New York Strikers, Mitchell Owen claimed three wickets in two overs while new-ball bowler Matiullah Khan bagged figures of 2/17.

In response, the Strikers managed just 76/7 to fall 25 runs short of the target. They even slipped to 3/3 at one stage before Colin Munro added some stability with 25-ball 38*. Bradley James Currie struck twice in his opening over while Andre Tye landed the knockout punch with figures of 3/21.

In the game between the Boca Raton Trailblazers and the Miami Lions, the former charted 119/4 from 10 overs. Beau Webster accounted for 82 of those runs from just 36 deliveries after the early dismissal of dangerman David Warner. From the four wickets that fell in the innings, Lions bowlers Ben Manenti and Gerhard Erasmus picked up two each.

Chasing 120, the Miami Lions could only manage 96/5 from 10 overs and lost the game by 23 runs. Unmukt Chand hit a valiant 10-ball 20 but captain Corey Anderson’s sluggish 20-ball 28 ended up costing his side in the run-chase. Webster also picked up two wickets with the ball to cap a sensational all-round spectacle.

In the final match of the triple-header, the Caribbean Giants pummelled a monumental 153/4 from 10 overs courtesy of a 23-ball 56 blaze from opener Josh Brown. Nick Hobson at number five also clobbered four fours and three sixes in his 12-ball 40*.

The Grand Cayman Jaguars stumbled in the chase, eventually finishing on 88/8 to hand the Giants a NRR-boosting 65-run win. Bradley James Currie (2/12) and Patrick Dooley (2/11) were the standout bowlers for the Giants.
