The second day of the Max60 Caribbean 2024 season witnessed three matches being played out in the Cayman Islands. In the first match of the triple-header, New York Strikers bowlers Isuru Udana (3/6), Thisara Perera (2/13) and Mitchell Owen (2/3) enveloped the entire Miami Lions line-up for just 52 in nine overs.

In response, the Strikers chased down their target in 8.1 overs at the expense of five wickets. Colin Munro top-scored with an unbeaten 18 in the run-chase to overcome Anderson Phillip’s two-wicket burst.

The match between Boca Raton Trailblazers and Grand Cayman Jaguars was abandoned after the former listed 107/5 upon batting first. Captain David Warner cracked 33 off 18 balls while unbeaten Jack Wood belted 40 runs from just 17 deliveries with a boundary and four sixes. Logan van Beek picked up two wickets for the Jaguars before rains interrupted play at the venue.

In match six of the Max60 Caribbean 2024, the Caribbean Tigers batted first and charted 138/4 from 10 overs. Josh Brown flogged 44 runs from 20 balls to overcome Kobe Herft’s first-ball departure to Anderson Phillip. Chris Lynn launched four sixes in his 15-ball 37-run cameo and Nick Hobson bashed an unbeaten 28 from eight.

For the Miami Lions, Corey Anderson unfurled the spell of the innings with figures of 2/23. Anderson also clobbered 19-ball 43 in the run-chase after his team was reduced to 19/3 at one stage. Regardless, the Miami Lions fell 38 runs short of their target courtesy of Patrick Dooley (2/25), Michael Alexander Leask (2/22), and Andrew Tye (2/15).

Josh Brown is the lone batter of the Max60 Caribbean 2024 season to have tallied over 100 runs. With 107 runs from three innings, he is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament. He is followed by Beau Webster (93 runs), Corey Anderson (79 runs) and Nick Hobson (76 runs) as the four most successful batters of the season.

Colin Munro is ranked fifth on the top 10 list for amounting to 56 runs in two innings. Jack Wood and Cameron Hemp, with 51 runs each, take the subsequent two slots on the batting table. David Warner has punched out 45 runs so far to be ranked eighth. Caribbean Tigers teammates Chris Lynn and Ashley Nurse occupy the final two positions on the top 10 table with 37 and 34 runs respectively.

Caribbean Tigers’ Australian star Andrew Tye leads the wicket-taking charts of the Max60 Caribbean 2024 season with six scalps from three innings. With five wickets each to their names, bowlers Mitchell Owen and Tye’s own teammates Bradley James Currie and Patrick Dooley are ranked second, third and fourth on the bowling table in that order.

Isuru Udana has snared four wickets so far from two matches to be ranked as the season’s fifth most successful bowler. Joshua Little, Matiullah Khan and Anderson Phillip have all snared three wickets each from two innings to occupy sixth, seventh and eighth positions on the table concerning bowling averages. Michael Alexander Leask and Gerhard Erasmus, also with three wickets, round up the top 10 table.
