Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament 2024 saw a double header on Thursday, June 20. Nugegoda SWC met Kurunegala in the first game while Burgher Recreation Club (BRC) squared off against Police Sports Club (PSC).

The first game between Nugegoda SWC and Kurunegala was declared a no-result due to rain after Nugegoda SWC reached 84/2 in 21 overs. Dilan Jayalath contributed 41 runs from 69 balls, and captain Tilakaratne Sampath scored 22 runs from 32 balls. Kavika Dilshan took two wickets for Kurenegala.

Police Sports Club elected to field first in the second game as the match was reduced to 45 overs due to a rain delay. Burgher Recreation Club struggled in the first half, with Dilshan de Soysa’s top-scoring 71 off 110 followed by Linal Subasinghe 34 (73) and Randunu Ganganath (14). The remaining batters were bowled out in single digits to 154 in 44.1 overs.

Himesh Ramanayake took a five-fer for PSC while Damith Kappagoda and Dilum Sudeera picked up one wicket each.

In the second half, the match was further shortened to 28 overs, setting a DLS target of 140 runs for PSC. Nadeera Balasooriya was the top scorer for PSC with 51 off 48 balls, and Vishad Randika added 46 off 54. Except for Dhanuja Induwara, who scored 12, the rest of the batters were dismissed for under 10 runs.

Chaminda Bandara led BRC's bowling with four wickets, while Movin Subasingha and Dulaj Ashen each took two, resulting in a five-run victory for BRC by the DLS method.

Nishan Madushka is still the leading run-scorer with 217 runs in four games, averaging 72.33. Janishka Perera also sits in the second position, scoring 192 runs, including a 97-run high score, in three games at an excellent average of 64.

Yashodha Lanka of Colts Cricket Club retained the third spot with 176 runs in three games.

Nondescripts Cricket Club’s star Niroshan Dickwella is ranked fourth in the most runs leaderboard with 156 runs to his name. His teammate Lahiru Udara follows him, scoring 148 runs at an impressive average of 49.33.

Wanuja Sahan retained his first spot with 10 wickets in four games. He is the joint-highest wicket-taker in this edition with Thanuka Dabare. Both have an excellent economy of 2.92 and 3.9, respectively.

Yohan Maddege is ranked third, having picked up nine wickets in four matches. Kavika Dilshan jumped from the 15th to fourth after taking two wickets in the previous game.

Sonal Dinusha and Alankara Asanka Silva follow him in the next two spots with eight wickets, respectively.
