The Eagle Nashik Titans managed to defend a target of 208 runs to stun the Ratnagiri Titans by 21 runs in the 25th match of the Maharashtra Premier League on Sunday, June 16.

Meanwhile, the Kolhapur Tuskers chased down Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings’ total comfortably in the second game of the 2024 Maharashtra Premier League today. Batting first after losing the toss, Nashik Titans got off to a steady start through opener Arshin Kulkarni (51 off 39 balls).

It was Atharva Kale’s blistering innings that helped Wellington post a competitive 208/5 in their 20 overs, smashing 65 runs off just 33 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 196.97. For the Ratnagiri Titans, Divyang Hinganekar, Sahil Churi, Vijay Patwale, Satyajeet Bachhav, and Nikit Dhumal took one wicket a piece.

In reply, Ratnagiri got off to a horrid start with both their openers dismissed for a duck. Batting at No.10 Sahil Churi scored 53 off 16 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 331.25. In the end, the target set by the Eagle Nashik Titans seemed a bit too far as the Ratnagiri-based franchise lost the game by 21 runs.

For the Nashik Titans, skipper Prashant Solanki was the most successful bowler, with 3/31 in four overs.

In the second match, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings’ batters Om Bhosale (19), Onkar Khatpe (26), and Saurabh Singh (26) made useful contributions after they were put into bat first by Kolhapur Tuskers. The Sambhaji Kings managed to put together a score of 126-10 in 19.5 overs.

Tuskers bowler Atharva Dakwe finished his spell with an impressive 4/10 in 4 overs.

Contributions from Aniket Porwal (21 off 16), Ankit Bawne (39 off 26), and Siddharth Mhatre (34 off 13) helped the Kolhapur Tuskers overhaul the target set by the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings with seven wickets and 44 balls to spare.

In the race for the Orange Cap (most runs), Sambhaji Kings’ batter Om Bhosale leads the run-scoring charts with 356 runs at a stunning average of 50.86 and a strike rate of 144.13.

Bhosale is closely followed by Siddhesh Veer, who has amassed 342 runs in eight matches. Kolhapur Tuskers’ Ankit Bawne occupies the third spot, scoring 308 runs at a strike rate of 140.64.

Rahul Tripathi sees himself in the fourth spot with 292 runs, while Ruturaj Gaikwad is in the fifth spot with 290 runs. Onkar Katpe is clear at the number six spot with 260 runs.

Azim Kazi, Mandar Bhandari, Murtuza Trunkwala, and Arshin Kulkarni round off the list, occupying the seventh, eighth, ninth, and 10th spots, respectively.

In the race for the Purple Cap (most wickets), Satyajeet Bachhav and Shreyash Chavan continue to lead the wicket-taking charts with 19 and 17 wickets, respectively. Tanay Sanghavi is in the third position with 12 wickets.

Anand Thenge’s impressive performance for the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings helped him claim the fourth with 12 wickets and an economy of 9.23. The rest of the bowlers in the top 10 remain unchanged, with the likes of Manoj Ingale ( 11 wickets), Mukesh Choudhary (10 wickets), Arshin Kulkarni (10 wickets), Sachin Bhosale (nine wickets), Nihal Tusamad (nine wickets), and Sunil Yadav (eight wickets) rounding off the list.
