The Mangalore Dragons faced the Hubli Tigers in the third match of the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 on Friday, August 16. In the fourth match, the Bengaluru Blasters faced the Mysore Warriors. Both games were held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

In a rain-curtailed fixture, the Hubli Tigers beat the Mangalore Dragons to get off to a winning start to the competition. The Bengaluru Blasters defeated the Mysore Warriors in the evening game to stay unbeaten in the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024.

The Bengaluru Blasters grabbed their second consecutive win in the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024. They sit at the top of the table with four points. The Hubli Tigers started their title defense on a winning note and sit below the Blasters with two points and a net run rate of +2.903 under their belt.

The Mysore Warriors suffered their first loss in the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024. They are third in the points table with two points in as many games with a net run rate of -0.088

The Shivamogga Lions are placed fourth in the points table. They are yet to open their account and have a net run rate of -0.778. The Mangalore Dragons got off to a losing start to the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 and they follow the Lions with a net run rate of -2.903.

The Gulbarga Mystics are at the bottom of the points table. They have zero points under their belt and have a net run rate of -4.524.


Defending champions Hubli Tigers start their Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 campaign on a winning note

The Mangalore Dragons were asked to bat first in the third match of the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024. Due to rain, the game was reduced to 16 overs per side. Their top-order batters got starts but failed to convert them into big scores.

Krishnamurthy Siddharth top-scored with 44 as the Tigers finished their innings on 143/7. The Hubli Tigers picked up seven wickets in total, with LR Kumar grabbing three.

Rain arrived again just before the second innings. The second innings was reduced to eight overs and the revised target according to the VJD method was 84 for the Tigers. Thippa Reddy (19*), Mohammed Taha (12), and skipper Manish Pandey (24*) scored quick runs for the Tigers.

The Hubli Tigers were 69/1 after 5.1 overs before rain arrived and the match officials called off the game. The Hubli Tigers were 15 runs ahead of the par score and were declared winners. With this, the Hubli Tigers beat the Mangalore Dragons by 15 runs on the VJD method to start their campaign on a winning note.

The fourth game of the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 between the Bengaluru Blasters and the Mysore Warriors was reduced to 18 overs per side due to rain. On the back of fifties from Harshil Dharmani (50) and Manoj Bhandage (58*), the Warriors posted 182 on the board.

Naveen MG starred with the ball for the Bengaluru Blasters. He picked up four wickets and conceded only 25 runs in his four overs. In reply, the Bengaluru batters contributed and made sure that they kept the required run rate under check. Quickfire knocks from LR Chethan (33), Bhuvan Raj (51) and Suraj Ahuja (39) helped them get closer to the target.

Shubhang Hegde remained unbeaten on 27 and made sure that he took his side across the line with five balls to spare. Vidyadhar Patil and Codanda Ajit Karthik picked up two scalps each for the Warriors. However, it wasn’t enough as they failed to defend the total and lost by four wickets.
