Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 auction: Rahul Dravid's son Samit purchased by Mysore Warriors

Indian batting legend Rahul Dravid's son Samit was purchased by Mysore Warriors for his base price of ₹50,000 at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 player auction on Thursday, July 25. Dravid was the coach of the Indian team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and the United States.

Meanwhile, L Revanna Chethan was the most expensive purchase at the player auction. A top-order batter, Chethan (24) was placed in Category B [₹1 lakh base price] and was picked up by Bengaluru Blasters for ₹8.6 lakh. Chetan was part of Gulbarga Mystics in the previous season of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20.

Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna was purchased by Mysore Warriors for ₹1 lakh. The lanky pacer, who underwent quadriceps surgery in February this year, was initially part of Category A, with a base price of ₹2 lakh. He was then shifted to Category B and ended up being purchased by the Mysore franchise at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 auction.

Leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal, who has the experience of 97 T20s and can also contribute with the bat, was the second biggest buy at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 player auction. He was picked up by Mangaluru Dragons for ₹7.6 lakh. Among the other big buys, off-spinner K Gowtham and left-arm spinner J Suchith were purchased by Mysore Mysore Warriors for ₹7.4 lakh and ₹4.8 lakh, respectively.

Further, among the other Category A players at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 player auction, Pravin Dubey went to Gulbarga Mystics for ₹6.8 lakh and KC Cariappa to Hubli Tigers for ₹4.2 lakh.

As per the rules of the tournament, the franchises can have a minimum of 16 players each and a maximum of 20 players each, with two from their respective catchment areas. The teams had retained four players each before the player auction.
