Bengaluru Blasters walloped Gulbarga Mystics in the first semifinal of the Maharaja Trophy 2024 season on Friday, August 30, at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Batting first, the Gulbarga Mystics batting line-up was bundled out for just 155 in 19.5 overs.

As many as four Bengaluru Blasters bowlers picked up two wickets each in the innings, with Kranthi Kumar collecting figures of 2/22. Mohsin Khan (2/25), Lavish Kaushal (2/33) and Shubhang Hegde (2/23) also collectively dismantled the Mystics after Luvnith Sisodia’s 20-ball 41 at the top of the order.

In response, Bengaluru Blasters opener LR Chethan smacked 89* from just 51 balls and shared a 124-run partnership with captain and fellow half-centurion Mayank Agarwal (52 off 37). After Agarwal’s dismissal to Rithesh Bhatkal (1/20), Chethan and unbeaten Bhuvan Raju shrugged off the remaining runs to take Bengaluru Blasters to a nine-wicket victory in just 17.1 overs.

Abhinav Manohar continues to lead the run-scoring charts of the Maharaja Trophy 2024 season with 507 runs. He is followed by Karun Nair, who retained himself at the second spot with 490 runs to his name from 10 innings.

LR Chethan (378 runs) rose from fifth to third on the table after cracking a match-winning 89* in the semifinal. Krishnan Shrijith lost a rung to slip to fourth place on the list with 329 runs, and he is followed by Luvnith Sisodia at fifth with 314 runs.

R Smaran (302 runs) slipped from fourth to number sixth, while Suraj Ahuja (278 runs) lost a rung and is ranked seventh on the table.

Krishnamurthy Siddharth retained himself at the eighth position with 263 runs, and Devdutt Padikkal (253 runs) climbed to ninth despite scoring just 13 in the semis. Mayank Agarwal jumped back into the top 10 after his 52-run knock took his season tally to 249 runs.

Lavish Kaushal’s match-winning figures of 2/33 in the semifinal took him back to the top spot among the highest wicket-takers of the Maharaja Trophy 2024 season with 16 scalps. Manvanth Kumar (15 wickets) and Abhishek Prabhakar (14 wickets) slipped a rung each to second and third, respectively, after Kaushal’s resurgence.

LR Kumar and Codanda Ajit Karthik retained themselves as the fourth and fifth most successful bowlers of the season, with 14 wickets each to their profile.

Kranthi Kumar rose from ninth to sixth on the top 10 table with 13 wickets, while Vidyadhar Patil slipped to seventh with as many scalps. Shubhang Hegde (13 wickets) is ranked eighth on the standings. Vidwath Kaverappa and Gneshwar Naveen round up the top 10 bowling charts with 11 wickets each.
