The sixth match of the Lanka Premier League 2024 was played between Galle Marvels and Jaffna Kings in Dambulla on Friday, July 5. Tim Seifert played a sensational 104-run knock off 63 balls to power Galle Marvels to 187 runs in the first innings.
The likes of Niroshan Dickwella (12), Alex Hales (23), and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (28) got starts but none of them could convert those into big scores. However, Seifert’s brilliant knock helped them post a competitive total.
As far as the Jaffna Kings’ bowling was concerned, Azmatullah picked up two wickets for 33 runs, while the likes of Madushan and Fabien Allen took one wicket each.
In reply, Jaffna Kings lost both their openers inside the powerplay for 59 runs. Avishka Fernando was also dismissed cheaply for 14. However, Rilee Rossouw played a sensational 67-run knock off 42 deliveries to keep his team in the hunt.
Later, Charith Asalanka (14 off 8) and Azmatullah Omarzai (35 off 13) played unbeaten cameos to guide their team home in the final over. Jaffna Kings, as a result, won the game by five wickets.
LPL 2024 Most Runs List
Avishka Fernando is atop the run-scoring charts with 153 runs in three matches. Tim Seifert is now at second with 126 runs, followed by Mark Chapman at third with 124 runs.
The fourth and fifth positions are occupied by Niroshan Dickwella (109) and Dinesh Chandimal (103), respectively.
Kusal Perera finds himself at sixth with 102 runs, while Alex Hales is seventh with 102 runs. Charith Asalanka is occupying the eighth spot with 97 runs.
Meanwhile, the bottom two spots in the top-10 list are occupied by Pathum Nissanka (90) and Rilee Rossouw (69), respectively
LPL 2024 Most Wickets List
Shadab Khan holds the top spot with eight wickets to his name. Zahoor Khan, with five wickets, is second. Meanwhile, the third and fourth spots are occupied by Isuru Udana (5) and Dunith Wellalage (4), respectively.
Dasun Shanaka occupies the fifth spot with four wickets, while Binura Fernando is sixth with four wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva has three wickets and finds himself in the seventh spot. At number eight is Nuwan Thushara with three wickets.
Meanwhile, the bottom two spots in the list are occupied by Mustafizur Rahman (3) and Maheesh Theekshana (3), respectively.
