LPL 2024: Top run-getters and wicket-takers after Colombo Strikers vs Dambulla Strikers (Updated) ft. Tim Siefert & Wanindu Hasaranga

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Kandy Falcons and Galle Marvels squared off in the ninth Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024 match while Colombo Strikers and Dambulla Strikers locked horns in the following game. Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla hosted both matches.

The Falcons batted first against the Marvels and set a target of 175 runs, losing seven wickets in the process. Andre Fletcher (50) and skipper Wanindu Hasaranga (65*) scored a fifty each while Angelo Matthews added 25 runs to the total. Isuru Udana bagged a three-wicket haul for the Marvels while Zahoor Khan picked up two.

In reply, Marvels reached the target in 17.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Tim Seifert led the batting department with an excellent 82-run unbeaten inning while Alex Hales scored 38 off 19. Shoriful Islam claimed two wickets for the Falcons.

The Sixers defeated the Strikers in the following game by eight wickets. With Glenn Phillips’ 52, Angelo Perera’s 41, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 36, the Strikers had posted 185 runs on the scoreboard. Nuwan Pradeep and Sixers’ captain Mohammad Nabi picked up two wickets each while Dushan Hemantha took one.

In reply, Sixers openers Reeza Hendricks (54) and Kusal Perera (80) forged a massive 154-run partnership for the first wicket. Later, Lahiru Udara (11*) and Mark Chapman (23) finished the chase in 17.5 overs.

LPL 2024 Most Runs List

Avishka Fernando of Jaffna King is still at the first position in the LPL most runs list with 210 runs to his name.

Tim Seifert, who moved from fourth to second, scored an 82-run unbeaten knock in the previous game, following Fernando closely with 208 runs to his name.

Kusal Perera also moved from fifth to third, scoring 198 runs in four innings at an impressive average of 66.

Pathum Nissanka slipped from second to fourth position with 178 runs to his name. Mark Chapman, who dropped from third to fifth nearly follows him with 177 runs.

Shadab Khan of Colombo Strikers is currently the highest wicket-taker of the Lanka Premier League 2024. He has secured nine wickets in four matches.

Zahoor Khan and Isuru Udana of Galle Marvels are ranked second and third, respectively, with eight wickets in their account.

Dasun Shanaka, Matheesha Pathirana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Mustafizur Rahman occupy the next four spots with five wickets each.
