Jaffna Kings routed Kandy Falcons in a rain-marred thriller at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium to clinch the 15th match of the ongoing 2024 Lanka Premier League.
After being put into bat first, Kandy Falcons lost opener Andre Fletcher for a duck before number three Mohammad Haris clubbed 30 runs from just 13 deliveries in a rain-curtailed innings. Losing five wickets in their designated seven overs, the Falcons listed a staggering total of 78/5.
Despite boasting of an innings run rate of 11.14, Falcons failed to put away Kings’ new-ball seamer Jason Behrendorff. The Australian speedster conceded just 10 runs from the two overs, and claimed three of the five wickets that fell in the innings.
In response, Kings slipped to 13/3 in 2.1 overs in front of Angelo Mathews (2/22) and Dasun Shanaka (1/26). Overcoming early setback, captain Charith Asalanka smacked 26 runs from just nine balls while Afghanistan import Azmatullah Omarzai launched three sixes and a boundary in his six-ball 24* to take Kings home in 5.5 overs.

Jaffna Kings opener Pathum Nissanka, despite scoring just four, continues to remain at the top of the LPL 2024 batting charts with 308 runs from seven innings. His teammate Avishka Fernando, at number two, is the only other batter of the season to have tallied 300 or above runs.
Kandy Falcons opener Dinesh Chandimal with 258 runs, Galle Marvels’ Alex Hales with 243 runs, and Jaffna Kings’ Rilee Rossouw with 236 runs occupy the next three slots to round up the top five batters.
Tim Seifert, with 224 runs is ranked sixth and Kusal Perera with 215 runs are placed at number sixth and seventh, respectively while Glenn Phillips, Andre Fletcher, and Mark Chapman round up the top 10 standings.
Lanka Premier League 2024 Most Wickets List
Galle Marvels fast bowler Isuru Udana with 11 wickets has emerged as the most successful bowler so far in the LPL 2024 season. Shadab Khan has skittled 10 wickets for the Colombo Strikers to be ranked second, and he is followed by Dasun Shanaka and Zahoor Khan with nine wickets each.
Wanindu Hasaranga has bagged eight wickets to be placed fifth on the bowling charts. Nuwan Thushara, Dwaine Pretorius, and Avishka Fernando have all collected seven wickets each so far to occupy the next three slots.
Matheesha Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera have both claimed six wickets to take the final two slots.
