Kandy Falcons returned to winning ways after picking up a 54-run win over Damabulla Sixers in the 18th match of the Lanka Premier League 2024 on Monday. A sensational batting effort helped them post a massive 222-run total on the board.
Andre Fletcher smashed 60 off just 34 balls. Mohammad Haris (24 off 13) and Hasaranga (25 off 12) also made valuable cameos.
Later, Kamindu Mendis and Angelo Mathews gave a rollicking finish to the innings. Mendis played a stellar knock of 51 off 24, while Mathews was equally brilliant for his 44 off 23.
It was a forgettable day with the ball for the Dambulla Sixers except Dushan Hemantha who impressed with his spell of 3-14 in four overs. Chasing a massive target, Dambulla Sixers were restricted to 168 in the second innings.
Kusal Perera played an impressive knock of 74 off just 40 balls but found little support from the other end.
Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, Colombo Strikers beat Galle Marvels by 7 wickets.
Led by a sensational spell of 4 for 20 from Matheesha Pathirana, Colombo Strikers bowled out Galle Marvels for just 138 runs. Shadab Khan and Dunith Wellalage also chipped in with two wickets each.
In pursuit of the target, Colombo Strikers lost two wickets in the power play. However, a 50-run knock from Muhammad Waseem took the game away from Galle.
Later, Glenn Phillips provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 31-run innings. Colombo Strikers chased down the target inside 19 overs and, thereby, won the game by seven wickets.
LPL 2024: Most Runs List
Avishka Fernando tops the run charts with 311 runs in eight matches. Pathum Nissanka finds himself in the second spot with 311 runs, while Tim Seifert is third with 291 runs.
The number four and five are occupied by Kusal Perera (289) and Alex Hales (284), respectively. Dinesh Chandimal is occupying the sixth spot with 270 runs, while Andre Fletcher is at the seventh spot with 263 runs.
Glenn Phillips takes the eighth spot with 237 runs, while Rilee Rossouw finds himself at ninth with 236 runs. Angelo Mathews is currently sitting in the 10th position with 233 runs under his name.
