LPL 2024 Most Runs List Updated after Colombo Strikers vs Kandy Falcons, Eliminator

On Thursday, July 18, Jaffna Kings and Galle Marvels squared off in the Qualifier 1 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, while Colombo Strikers and Kandy Falcons locked horns in the Eliminator. R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo hosted both games.

Jaffna Kings batted first and set a 178-run target, courtesy of Kusal Mendis’ 46, Rilee Rossouw’s 40, and Avishka Fernando’s 33-ball 52. Dwaine Pretorius led the Galle Marvels bowling attack with a four-wicket haul while Isuru Udana picked up two wickets and Prabath Jayasuriya took one.

In reply, Alex Hales’ 21-ball 36 in the top order and half-centuries from Tim Seifert (62*) and Janith Liyanage (56) helped the Marvels comfortably chase the target in 18.1 overs, with seven wickets in hand. Azmatullah Omarzai, Fabian Allen, and Tabraiz Shamsi picked up one wicket apiece for the Kings.

In the following game, the Colombo Strikers lost to Kandy Falcons by two wickets. Batting first, Colombo had set a 160-run target at the loss of eight wickets. Sadeera Samarawickrama top-scored with 62 off 45, followed by Rahmanullah Gurbaz (30) and Dunith Wellalage (28).

Mohammad Hasnain of Falcons was the pick of the bowlers with a three-wicket haul while Wanindu Hasaranga chipped in two wickets and Dasun Shanaka and Angelo Matthews took one each.

Avishka Fernando of Jaffna Kings continues to stand atop the most runs leaderboard, with 363 runs in nine games. Following closely, Tim Seifert (353), who scored a 62-run unbeaten knock on Thursday, jumped from fourth position to second.

Similarly, Alex Hales (320) also moved from fifth to third after scoring 36 runs in the previous game. Pathum Nissanka is fourth with 315 runs in nine games, averaging 35.

Shadab Khan picked up a wicket on Thursday and solidified his top spot on the most wickets charts with 17 wickets. Matheesha Pathirana chipped in with a four-wicket haul in the same match and moved from third to second with 15 wickets.

Wanindu Hasaranga took two wickets and ascended from fourth to third with 14 wickets. Similarly, Isuru Udana of Galle Marvels picked up a couple of wickets and occupied the fourth spot with 14 wickets.

Binura Fernando and Dasun Shanaka hold the next two positions with 13 wickets each.
