The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will begin on July 1. This tournament is organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket and the LPL 2024 will be played across three venues across Sri Lanka.
A total of five teams, namely, B-Love Kandy, Dambulla Sixers, Jaffna Kings, Galle Marvels and Colombo Strikers will be participating in the upcoming edition of Lanka Premier League 2024. This edition will be played from July 1 to July 21 in the double round-robin format.
A total of 24 matches will be played in the LPL 2024. The 20 league matches will be followed by the playoffs which comprises Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the final, which will be played on Sunday, July 21.
The tournament begins in Pallekele where the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will host the first five games. The action will shift to Dambulla where Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium will host the next nine games.
R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the final leg of LPL 2024. A total of six league games, followed by four playoff games, will be held in the capital city of the country.
The B-Love Kandy are the defending champions, having lifted the title last year by defeating Dambulla Aura in a thriller of a contest. They will start their title defence on the opening day against the Dambulla Sixers. The Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will host this exciting contest on Monday.
Lanka Premier League 2024: When to watch?
The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) kicks off on Monday, July 1. The league stage comprises 20 matches which will be played from July 1 to 16. There are eight double-header days, with the afternoon game starting at 3pm IST and the evening game beginning at 7.30pm IST.
The playoffs begin on Thursday, July 18, with Qualifier 1 and Eliminator scheduled on that day. Qualifier 2 will be played on July 20, Saturday, with the grand final scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 21. The first ball of the final will be bowled at 7.30pm IST.
