The Greenfield International Stadium hosted two Kerala Cricket League 2024 matches on Sunday, September 8. Thrissur Titans and Aries Kollam Sailors recorded huge victories in in rain-marred games against Kochi Blue Tigers and Trivandrum Royals respectively.

The win for Aries Kollam Sailors over Trivandrum Royals helped extend their dominance at the top of the standings. They have accumulated eight points from five games courtesy of four wins.

The Titans jumped from the bottom of the six-team standings to take second spot in the Kerala Cricket League 2024 after a seven-wicket win over Kochi Blue Tigers. The Blue Tigers and the Calicut Globstars slipped up a rung each to number three and number four respectively on the points table at the expense of the Thrissur Titans.

Alleppey Ripples slipped to fifth in the standings with two wins and a dismal NRR of -0.873. Trivandrum Royals became the season’s wooden-spooner after the rise of Thrissur Titans. The Royals have also registered two wins from five attempts, but an NRR of -1.135 keeps them at the bottom of the table.


Titans, Sailors record big wins in rain-marred double-header in Kerala Cricket League

Thrissur Titans defeated Kochi Blue Tigers by seven wickets (DLS method) with an over to spare in the Kerala Cricket League.

After the Tigers made 130-4 from 15 overs courtesy of a 23-ball 47 from Nikhil Thottath, Titans captain Varun Nayanar unfurled the innings of the match with an unbeaten 64 off 38. Vishnu Vinod cracked a fiery 33-ball 46, batting at number four.

In match 14 of the season, Trivandrum Royals batted first and were limited to 136-8 in 20 overs. Aries Kollam Sailors bowlers Sharafuddeen N M (3-19) and Pavan Raj (2-21) hogged the limelight with the ball alongside Sudhesan Midhun (2-31) in the low-scoring Royals innings.

Chasing 137, the Aries Kollam Sailors reached 107-4 in 11.1 overs before rain interrupted play. Captain Sachin Baby smacked a whirlwind 51 off 30 as the Sailors won by six wickets (via DLS method).
