Thrissur Titans and Kochi Blue Tigers secured emphatic victories in matches seven and eight of Kerala Cricket League 2024 on Thursday, September 5. The Titans defeated Trivandrum Royals to register their first win of the season and the Tigers overcame Alleppey Ripples later in the evening.

Aries Kollam Sailors remain at the top of the Kerala Cricket League 2024 points table with two wins in two matches. Alleppey Ripples also retained their second position on the six-team standings, despite losing to Kochi Blue Tigers.

Kochi Blue Tigers rose from the bottom to take the third spot with an NRR of 0.443. Calicut Globstars, with a win and a defeat each, are ranked fourth on the table with an NRR of 0.327. Thrissur Titans remain at number five after their latest eight-wicket win. Trivandrum Royals slipped from number four to the bottom of the points table after their defeat against the Titans.


Unnikrishnan Manukrishnan entertains with 9-ball 34* in exciting double-header

The Thrissur Titans batters overhauled their 128-run target against the Trivandrum Royals with eight wickets and seven overs to spare. Vishnu Vinod top-scored in the run-chase for the Titans with his six-laden knock of 47* runs from just 19 deliveries.

Earlier in the match, Titans bowlers Pathirikattu Krishnan Midhun (2/17) and Imran Ahammed (2/24) had restricted the Royals to just 127/7 in 20 overs. MD Nidheesh, Gokul Gopinath, and Mohammed Ishaque P also chipped in with a wicket each to dismantle the Royals.

In the eighth match of the competition, Kochi Blue Tigers batted first and scored 218/2 in 20 overs. Both openers, Anand Krishnan (69 off 51) and Jobin Joby (79 off 48), scored sparkling half-centuries during their 140-run stand in just 14.4 overs. Unnikrishnan Manukrishnan, batting at number four, further exploded with an unbeaten nine-ball 34* at the death.

Chasing 219 for a win, Alleppey Ripples’ response fell flat at 154 in 17.3 overs. Tigers captain Basil Thampi picked up three wickets in the innings while Jerin PS unfurled the spell of the run-chase with figures of 3/24. Sijomon Joseph also took two Ripples wickets during his three-over spell.
