Following the Duleep Trophy in the Indian domestic cricket calendar is the Irani Cup 2024. The competition is scheduled to be played from October 1 to October 5 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, marking a shift from its original venue in Mumbai due to weather conditions.

Irani Cup is played between the winner of the Ranji Trophy and a team with top players from the rest of the state teams. This time around, Mumbai, the defending Ranji Trophy champions, will face the Rest of India (ROI) in the Irani Cup 2024 clash.

ROI won the last time in 2023 when they defeated Saurashtra in the final. With Mumbai being the most successful Ranji Trophy team and having a dominant history, this is set to be an exciting contest.

Ajinkya Rahane will lead Mumbai in this fixture. On the other hand, a young Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named the captain of the Rest of India team. Abhimanyu Easwaran, a constant performer in the domestic circuit, will serve as vice-captain of the side.

Apart from Rahane, some other big names in Mumbai's squad include Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Shardul Thakur. For ROI, Musheer Khan will unfortunately miss out. However, their squad is filled with talented names such as Abhimanyu Easwaran, Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, and Dhruv Jurel among others.
