The second-last league game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will see the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) lock horns with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday, May 19. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will host the encounter.

SRH have already qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs. However, a win here will give them a chance to finish in the top two, meaning they will have two chances to reach the final. The last match between the SunRisers and the Gujarat Titans at this venue was abandoned due to inclement weather.

Hyderabad are currently placed third in the standings with 15 points from 13 games, including seven wins and five defeats.

PBKS, on the other hand, have already been knocked out of the tournament. They are currently placed second from bottom in the points table with five wins and eight defeats from 13 games. Punjab will miss some of their key overseas players who have returned home to prepare for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

PBKS will be led by young wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran due to various reasons. Dhawan will miss the game due to injury, while Curran has returned home to unite with the England side for the Pakistan series and the following T20 World Cup.

The last game in Hyderabad will likely see a massive turnout today. Hot and humid weather will beckon fans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. The temperature will hover around 32-33 degrees Celsius, however, the actual feeling will be around 40 degrees Celsius due to high humidity.

Moreover, there is no chance of rainfall in the forecast for Sunday in Hyderabad, thus, an uninterrupted game is on the cards.

What is the head-to-head record between SRH and PBKS in the IPL?

The two teams have met each other 22 times previously in the IPL with SRH winning on 15 occasions. Punjab, on the other hand, have emerged victorious seven times.

The last time these two teams met earlier this season, the SunRisers won by two runs in Mullanpur.
