Mumbai Indians climbed up from ninth to seventh position in the IPL 2024 points table. Last night (Thursday, April 18) in Mullanpur, the Mumbai Indians recorded a nine-run victory against the Punjab Kings.

Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee bagged three wickets each for MI to help them defend a 193-run target at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. Courtesy of the nine-run victory against the Punjab Kings, the Mumbai Indians have jumped two spots in the IPL 2024 points table.

MI's tally stands at six points from seven games. It's the same as Gujarat Titans but Mumbai's net run rate of -0.133 is much better than GT's -1.303. Punjab Kings have dropped from eighth to ninth spot in the standings. They only have two wins from seven games, with their net run rate being -0.251. Here is the updated IPL 2024 points table:

IPL 2024 will return to Lucknow tonight for a clash between home side Lucknow Super Giants and defending champions Chennai Super Kings. The broadcasters have hyped it up as the 'Maha Match of the Week'.

Chennai Super Kings are currently third in the standings with eight points from six matches. If they beat Lucknow Super Giants tonight, Chennai can overtake the Kolkata Knight Riders to move up to the second position.

On the other side, the fifth-placed LSG team has an opportunity to record its fourth win of the season and inch closer to the Top 4.

LSG's net run rate is currently inferior to the other three teams with eight points to their name. However, if KL Rahul and Co. register a massive win on home turf, they can jump ahead of all of them and attain the second spot.
