Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League 2024 on Friday, May 24, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. RR won the toss and elected to bowl.
SRH lost the wicket of Abhishek Sharma in the very first over of their innings. Travis Head and Rahul Tripathi added 42 runs for the second wicket and went on to make 30-plus runs. Heinrich Klaasen played a swift knock of 50 runs off 34 deliveries.
SRH posted a total of 175 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers for RR and picked three wickets for 45 runs in four overs.
RR had a disastrous campaign with the bat. They lost the first wicket at the end of the fourth over for 24 runs. RR lost the next five wickets for just 68 runs. Yashasvi scored 42 runs off 21 deliveries. Dhruv Jurel was the only other batter who scored more than 10 runs for RR in this game as he remained unbeaten on 56 runs off 35 deliveries.
RR could make only 139 runs for the loss of seven wickets and lost the match by 36 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed picked up three wickets for 23 runs in four overs and was the most successful bowler for SRH.
