Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2024 on Friday, April 26, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

PBKS won the toss and elected to bowl. Philip Salt and Sunil Narine scored a half-century each. They helped KKR post a total of 261 runs for the loss of six wickets on the board. Salt was the highest scorer and made 75 runs off 37 deliveries. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers and took two wickets for 45 runs in four overs.

PBKS had a tremendous start and added 93 runs in the powerplay. They didn’t let the momentum slip away at any point and reached the target of 262 runs in 18.4 overs with eight wickets in hand. Jonny Bairstow remained unbeaten on 108 runs off 48 deliveries. Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh made a half-century each for PBKS.

Virat Kohli is still the leading run-scorer this season and has made 379 runs in nine matches at an average of 61.42. Sunil Narine has jumped to the second position and amassed 357 runs in eight games at a strike rate of 184.02.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has moved to third place from second place and has made 349 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 142.44. Rishabh Pant has slipped to fourth position from third and has scored 342 runs in nine outings at a strike rate of 161.32.

Sai Sudharsan has moved to fifth place from fourth and has scored 334 runs in nine matches at an average of 37.11. Travis Head has slipped to sixth position from fifth and has amassed a total of 324 runs in six matches at an average of 54.

Philip Salt has jumped to seventh place and has amassed a total of 324 runs in eight innings at an average of 46.28 and a strike rate of 176.08. Riyan Parag has moved to eighth place from sixth and has made 318 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 161.42.

Sanju Samson has slipped to the ninth position from seventh and has scored 314 runs in eight innings at an average of 62.8. Shivam Dube has moved to 10th place from eighth and has scored 311 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 169.94.
